This week, Minister of Education and Research Kristina Kallas is participating in the OECD Teaching Profession Summit (ISTP) held in Singapore, with this year's main theme being "Reimagining Education, Realising Potential." The purpose of the visit, lasting from April 22 to 25, is to solidify Estonia's image as a leading education nation globally and to create cooperation opportunities with other developed countries.

Members of the minister's delegation include Reemo Voltri, Chairman of the Education Workers Union, Ants Koel, Chairman of UNIVERSITAS union, and Mari Roostik, the Director of Tartu Jaan Poska Gymnasium. Helen Reim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu, will join the education export meetings.

"We have initiated negotiations for an education agreement to provide teachers with confidence about the future," said Kallas ahead of the visit. "I can confirm that, in international comparison, the cooperation between the state and education workers in Estonia is working very well. I understand the concerns of teachers, and I am pleased that several important processes, such as negotiations for the education agreement, analysis of education costs, and school network reform, have already been initiated."

As part of the summit, Kallas will meet with OECD Deputy Secretary-General Yoshiki Takeuchi and the Director for Education and Skills, Andreas Schleicher, who is a well-known admirer of the Estonian education system. Today, more than ever, OECD is an important cooperation partner for Estonia, having, unlike several other international organizations in the field of education, taken on the role of a platform with an open attitude to AI in education.

Within the framework of the ISTP, the Minister will meet bilaterally with the Minister of Education of Singapore Chan Chun Sing, the Deputy Minister of Education of USA Cindy Marten and the Minister of Education of Nova Scotia, Canada Becky Druhan. In addition, the minister will give a public lecture at the Singapore Institute of Technology on the extra day of her visit dedicated to education export, meet with the Singapore School Heads Association and visit the Singapore Institute of Education, the AI Research Center and the Singapore University of Social Sciences.
