Yesterday and today, the Minister of Education and Research, Kristina Kallas, was on a working visit in Paris to participate in the meeting of the UNESCO Ministers of Education and the UNESCO General Conference, where she delivered Estonia's national statement.

In her speech, the minister called on UNESCO member states to ensure high-quality and accessible education for every child and to keep an open mind towards AI and digital solutions.

"AI revolutinonizes the way we think about learning and I am convinced that we need to do more in education than react to new developments with guidelines and regulations, which seems to be a growing trend internationally today. We must find ways to use this new knowledge to create a public good, to shape better education, while fully respecting the privacy and rights of learners. The task of all of us is to find the right and balanced use of AI in education."

During the visit, the minister met with high education leaders from Finland, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, France, Tunisia and the OECD to promote mutual cooperation. While meeting with Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska, Minister Kallas confirmed Estonia's unwavering support for Ukraine to win the war and rebuild the country.
