Today, the Minister of Education and Research of Estonia Kristina Kallas participated in the panel discussion of Educa, Finland's largest educational fair, where she and her Finnish colleague Anna-Maja Henriksson spoke about digital education and artificial intelligence.

"AI is an inevitable reality in the future of education. Estonia has chosen a similar leadership role as in the era of the Tiger Leap in the 90s. We are looking for ways to make AI work for us and make informed choices in everyday learning and development with the help of modern technology. Here is our chance to be among the winners in the global competition," explained Minister Kallas.

"In order to make the best use of new solutions in Estonian education, a working group on artificial intelligence, consisting of top experts in the fields, has been established at the Ministry of Education and Research, where exchanges of experience are held at international level and teachers and school leaders are trained."

The Minister visited the Finnish Innovation Fund (SITRA) on the eve of the fair, which, like Estonia, represents an open attitude towards the use of AI for the benefit of society - also in education. Just before the panel discussion, the education ministers of both countries, Kallas and Henriksson met bilaterally. The topics of the conversation were education reforms, the school network and the results of the recently published PISA survey.

EDUCA is one of the largest educational events in the Nordic countries, organised annually by the OAJ trade union in the education sector in cooperation with the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and the Finnish Education Board. Nearly 20,000 teachers, school leaders, researchers and other experts in the field of education participate.
