At the annual conference of Estonian ambassadors this year, for the first time, education and research were in the spotlight, as our success story in these fields is attracting international attention and education and research exports have a strong potential for ensuring Estonia's economic growth.

Minister Kristina Kallas emphasized the need for Estonia to develop a talent policy aimed at attracting more skilled individuals to Estonia. “The competitiveness of Estonia’s economy depends on our ability to grow and attract international talents who can create smart and innovative solutions,” said Kallas. “Estonia should aim to increase the proportion of foreign students in higher education from the current 10% to at least 15% in the future. Our success in education and PISA tests will only aid this goal,” the minister stated.

Following the minister's presentation, the panel discussion "Estonia's educational and research exports: for whom and why?" focused on how to better introduce Estonia's education and research experience to the world. Ambassador-at-large for Education and EdTech, Eero Loonurm, the head of Study in Estonia, Anu Noorma, the head of the Estonian Research Council, and Rainis Venta, the former research cooperation attache, took part in the discussion.
